Open Government IdeaScale Sites Solicit Valuable Feedback but May Unintentionally Compromise Citizen Privacy

The 24 agencies required to comply with the Open Government Directive have begun soliciting citizen feedback on how to improve transparency, participation, collaboration, and innovation in government. Agencies are using IdeaScale to facilitate two-way feedback with citizens. To date, over 700 ideas have been submitted ! Unfortunately, the current implementation introduces slight privacy concerns for users.

Marketers Make Social Networks Top Priority for 2010

eMarketer recently published results of the 2010 Digital Marketing Outlook survey in which marketers reported their priorities for investment in the coming year. The top priority for 45.4% of senior marketers is social networks and applications, followed closely by digital infrastructure (44.5%). It makes sense that infrastructure investment follows close on the heels of social media marketing – that we need digital marketing infrastructure that fits the world of social media to realize a return

Getting Tactical with the Open Government Directive

This week, I participated in the Open Government Workshop , which brought together a group of leaders across the federal government sector. The sessions are designed to develop tactical recommendations for federal agencies developing their open government plans, which are due to be published on April 7. I was lucky to be teamed up with some really bright, thoughtful folks, and together we developed a total of 23 different recommendations that agencies could draw from.
