Improve Your Hiring Process: Bring Objectivity to Final Decision

ExactHire Recruiting

We’ve covered a lot in this blog series — a variety of ways to make your hiring process more efficient. At the same time, I’m very fond of pointing out to our clients that this process still ultimately boils down to people hiring people. As obvious as that sounds, it’s easy to be misled by various solutions in the talent acquisition space that seem intent on turning hiring into another algorithm.

“I’ll Take Any Work You Give Me Except That. And That…”

Staffing Talk

'The interviewee steps tentatively into your office, hat (figuratively or literally) in hand. You offer your hand and his sweaty palms shake it a little too hard. You beckon him to sit, and he does ever-so-gingerly, as if he could break your chair if he’s not careful. His eagerness to please seems to be making him extra nervous, even jittery. (At any rate, you’re hoping that’s the only thing making him jittery!).

Improve Your Hiring Process: Cast Wide Net for Talent by Going Social

ExactHire Recruiting

Much of what I’ve addressed in my Improve Your Hiring Process blog series to this point has been about bringing efficiency and structure to your hiring process. But, ever think about why so many unqualified applicants end up in your pool?

How to Write a Job Description Optimized for Job Boards and Internet Search, Tip 4

ExactHire Recruiting

Is writing job descriptions more of an art or a science? It is perhaps less of a science than it used to be since practices like keyword stuffing are now counterproductive while the focus is truly on producing quality content (as it should be) these days. I’m going to take the easy way out and claim that its a blend of both art and science…or perhaps, strategy is a better word.

If you are in the manufacturing industry then you’ve likely had to make some critical changes to your applicant selection process over the past few years. What if Applicants Charged You for Their Time?

ExactHire Recruiting

Recently I received an article forwarded from a friend that discussed applicants charging companies for their time during the interview process. Sounds a bit outlandish on the surface, doesn’t it? In summary, the article, “Ask The Headhunter: Should Employers Pay to Interview You?” (by Nick Corcodilos) is really about managing expectations. There are tons of questions that could be asked if this were a serious threat: What if you had to pay applicants for their time once they made it past

Of course, this is the natural byproduct of professional worlds colliding with personal spheres.
