Overcoming 'Us vs Them'

Staffing Talk

An introspective mindset can keep an otherwise healthy staffing company in a rut. Sure, you can still scratch out an existence like that, but is that really what you want to do? Contrary to popular opinion, there is a lot of low-hanging fruit out there.

Those J1 Visas Keep Our Resorts Running

Staffing Talk

I'm just back from a three-day ski jaunt with the kids at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana. Very nice. And the service was great too, no small thanks to all the Poles, Brasilians and other J1 visa holders that seem to do most of the the work there. The resorts can't find Americans to fill these jobs [at a pay rate that allows for profit] that pay poorly but come with season passes and other benefits.

Staffing Talk

In my last post I took credit for writing the first version of our electronic invoicing. This was inaccurate. Kim Turner of Manpower of Salt Lake developed and popularized the original facility as well as a number of early innovations in our front-back office. Although not a programmer by profession, she demonstrated an uncanny knack for getting close to her customers and delivering solutions with the TempWorks platform.

Development Update

Staffing Talk

The following comes from TempWorks' CTO, Paul Czywczynski, with a little editing by me to protect the innocent: Welcome to the 2nd and late edition of TW Web Development noise. It's been a busy few weeks working to get a stable build of WebCenter5 and all its components ready. Before I begin, a trivia question for everyone; how many checks and e-pays were cut through our hosting services division for the month of February?

The Rules Do Apply: Navigating HR Compliance

Speaker: Ann Meyers Piccirillo

HR Compliance is like a giant game of whack-a-mole. Once you think your company is compliant with all policies and procedures documented and in place, there’s a new or amended law, regulation, or final rule that pops up landing you back at ‘start.’ There are shifts, interpretations, and balancing acts to understanding compliance changes. Keeping up is not easy and it’s very time consuming.
